A few years ago we had the pleasure of working on a wedding with a bride who had a background in interior design and absolutely loved chinoiserie. We were challenged to come up with a wedding design based on the pottery, blue and white with pops of color, and to incorporate her beloved french bulldogs. This was such a wonderful project to design and is one of our favorite projects to date. |
This wedding was held at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas. Guests entered through the new Stieren Center with floral candelabras and blue silk gazebos, setting the tone for the blue and white extravaganza to come. |
After signing the guest book, the wedding well wishers were in awe of the hydrangea floral wall accented by massive floral urns. This turned into quite the photo opportunity for the event. Signature drinks were served and guests mingled amongst the museum's contemporary art. Many ventured onto the patio and through the sculpture gardens to the reception tent. |
We decided to incorporate the bride's two french bulldogs into the entry of the reception. We designed two custom floral french bulldog topiaries, complete with blue flower collars. These were placed on staging and could be viewed behind the white bars, and looked stunning against the blue silk draped tent and blue chandeliers.
As there were eight hundred guests attending this fabulous function, we designed multiple action stations and decorative food displays in order for guests to mix and mingle. This included stunning ice sculpture fountains with delish shrimp cocktails with floral accents
In the center of the tent, we custom designed long white lacquered tables with custom made blue and white fabric chairs. In the center stood massive blue and white urns with a structural floral arrangement consisting of calla lilies and white roses. Blue stemware and chargers complimented the tables beautifully. Along the center of the tables, mirrored wave centerpieces reflected the candlelight and allowed the wedding party to chat with one another. Finally, we had two chairs with the couple's monogram embroidered on them to sit and enjoy their friends. Everyone visited the various food stations and loved the blue and white ceramic dishes for dinner service. |
The guest tables for this event were a combination of blue and white cloths on both round and rectangular tables. The centerpieces were designed in various chinoiserie forms, and had a luxe feel mixed with contemporary structure. Pops of magenta were included to help accent the color scheme. Above the rectangular tables were stunning floral chandeliers with mercury glass lights. Take a look through this slideshow to see all of the incredible designs.
And finally... here are a few of our favorite details from the event. They include the lounge area complete with embroidered blue and white cushions, the beautiful wedding cake from Cakes by Cathy, the monogrammed favors, a glimpse at a glowing oval table from CORT Event Furnishings at the after party, dancing shoes with a note from the couple, and finally cookies and milk with custom printed handkerchiefs as a farewell send off for guests.
