“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.” – Mark Twain Our client gave us this quote on the day we met. He explained how he and his partner had traveled all over the world over the years for their import business. So when it came time to plan Lynn's 50th Birthday, it was hard to pick a theme or just one place since their adventures had taken them so many places -- each with a special memory attached. Should they host the event somewhere exotic like India or romantic like France? In the end they chose to host their family and friends at their stunning home, overlooking Lake Austin. We designed this event to bring a bit of all their favorite places -- the far east, India, Paris, and even Las Vegas to Austin, Texas. This event celebrated 50 years of life (with more to come) and gave guests the experiences of Lynn's travels. |
Guests entered the event through the couple's front drive. They were greeted with vibrantly colored silks and candelabras, which gave the party a Moroccan feel. We had stunning showgirls greet guests along with our hosts to emphasize that there was more to come and how "Fabulous Fifty" really is.
As their residence had fabulous architecture and artwork in the space, we incorporated their existing decor into the design and added florals to help accent them. We also mixed colors, textures, and cultures in the event design as well. Guests absolutely loved all of the color and candles. |
As the evening wore on and the sun set, the event was filled with vibrant lighting to let the guests know the party was just getting started. At dusk, a show started for our guests with a stage overlooking the cliff onto downtown Austin over the lake. These performances included a "bollywood" style performance, a "Moulin Rouge" inspired performance, and even a glittering roaring 20's performance with billowing feather fans. The evening concluded with a flaming birthday cake that shot up goodies through the center tube! It was definitely a fabulous night to be fifty! |
